Durham cruiser involved in crash

Ontario Provincial Police continue to investigate a two-vehicle collision involving a marked Durham Region Police Service cruiser, which occurred along a busy highway in Port Perry last Wednesday (Oct. 5) afternoon.
_According to police, the collision took place at approximately 5 p.m. that afternoon, when a DRPS cruiser, eastbound along Scugog St./Hwy 7A, collided with the rear of another vehicle with two occupants, near the intersection of Old Simcoe Rd. Police said that the Durham officer and the occupants of the other vehicle were taken to hospital for suspected minor injuries and later released. The roadway was closed for several hours as a result of the crash.
_Sgt. Nancy Van Rooy of the DRPS said that the investigation has been handed over to the OPP.
_Staff Sgt. Rob Kobayashi of the OPP’s Whitby detachment provided no additional details, adding that the investigation into the collision is ongoing and that “no decisions have yet been made on any charges” in the incident.
